The Autumn Tag

October 9, 2018northernirishgirlonline

Hey, you beautiful, sexy, people,

Firstly, can I just say an overwhelmingly massive THANK YOU for the love on my most recent post on checking yourselves (male and female) for any strange lumps or bumps in the breast region.

The purpose of the post was obviously to pay homage to Breast Cancer Awareness month, but also to ensure people don’t add to the statistics because if there anything I hate, it’s a fucking statistic based on people who know what they’re supposed to do but just don’t do it. If you haven’t read it then please click here to read it, I ask you to do that before continuing with this because it really is just that important.

Moving along, I was tagged by Man Vs. Adulthood (what an epic name) aka Ross, I have linked his blog, here. Please go and drool over how epic he is at photography, read his reviews (I, for one, particularly enjoyed the Venom review as I like a bit of Tom Hardy on occasion) and just give him a follow. His social’s will be linked in full at the bottom of this post, you 100% need to check his Instagram for his amazing photography and just follow his social’s and show the love as we have a loving wee community, here.

I LOVE being interviewed. I’ve worked in HR for wayyyy too long to not enjoy being asked questions so I really enjoyed doing this. Shall we start, or have you all buggered off cos’ I’m boring you? We’ll start, yes… yes, let’s start.

What signifies the start of Autumn for you?

The smell? It’s like a cold, but the significant smell in the air (Ross get out of my head!) The leaves turning golden, brown and burnt orange and of course HALLOWEEN!!!!!

What is your favourite autumn scent?

Like perfume? Candles? I’ll go with candles, funnily enough, it’s actually Cinnamon. I know a lot of people think that scent belongs to Christmas, but to me, Sparkling Cinnamon from Yankee Candle (call me!) is my go-to from October to November then I move on to the Christmas scent. I also really love the cold smell I mentioned above, Autumn is my absolute favourite time of the year and October is my favourite month (I’m a May baby so no it’s not because it’s my bday).

What is your favourite Autumn colour?

Hahahaahaha, wait.. oh you’re serious? I only wear three colours the majority of the time which is black, black and more black. Nah, I’m kidding it’s black, grey and navy. Although, because I’ve dark hair I do suit red so I’ll go with red.

Are you a fan of PSL (Pumpkin Spiced Latte)?

What in the fuck… no. I don’t understand anyone that would willingly drink anything with 🎃Pumpkin 🎃 in it. If you want to buy me a Latte then make it a Coconut Milk Latte, grandé, obviously. I’ve mentioned before I basically put Cinnamon in everything because one it’s good for you and two it’s amazing, so I’ll sprinkle cinnamon on top of my Coconut Milk Latte.

Another reason I won’t touch it is because it reminds me of the Creepypasta Clancy Pasta did a while ago, to this day I still can’t go into Costa without thinking of that (I point blank refuse to give Starbucks my custom, maybe when they start respecting the military… no that’s a lie I’ll never go to Starbucks).

What is your favourite Autumn drink?

I’m such a bore, I don’t switch up my drinks I drink what I like when I like. If I don’t want a Latte, normal tea or sparkling water (yes, I’m that bitch.) My go-to herbal tea is Apple and Cinnamon.

What is your favourite coffee shop and their drink of choice?

A Coconut Milk Latte (grandé) with a decent sprinkle of Cinnamon from Costa Coffee. Can’t beat it with a big stick (I said stick, not dick, don’t be a dirty hallion).

Morning Coffee - Grandé Coconut Latte with a sprinkle of Cinnamon for a kick.
Morning Coffee – Grandé Coconut Latte with a sprinkle of Cinnamon for a kick.

Apple pie or Pumpkin pie?

Depends… am I doing an American Pie moment and humping it, or, is it for eating? Either way Apple Pie for both – insert shrug emoji here -. If you want to be specific then Apple Crumble with ice cream and fresh cream… sweet mother of fuck I am so hungry now.

What TV show, new or old are you looking forward to in the next few months?

I don’t want TV, so I can’t relate… I’m going to be up to my tits in psychology, blogging, getting my novel done and working that I’m having to actually schedule (I shit you not) time in my planner (thank you to our wee Ruth for the idea) to make sure I am keeping up with my normal reading, listening to Audible and podcasts for my monthly highlights and lowlights.

I am, however, massively looking forward to having a full-on horror movie marathon totally by myself because my hubby cannot fathom why horror films, especially the gory ones like Rob Zombie’s, don’t freak me out. I am a massive horror buff, the only thing I draw the line on is killing of any kind of animal so no I haven’t seen The Hills Have Eyes and no I’ll never watch it.

What is your favourite Autumn fashion trend?

One for the winter wardrobe - A Mustard Chunky Cardigan is a staple for this winter.
One for the winter wardrobe – A Mustard Chunky Cardigan is a staple for this winter.

Chunky cardi’s and jumpers! My go-to outfit for work is a long chunky jumper (baggy, of course) tights and a pair of knee boots (brown or black). I haven’t worn Uggs since I was in my early 20’s, give me a pair of knee boots over Uggs any day of the week.

What is your favourite comfort food to enjoy in the colder months?

Hmm, I’m quite good at switching things up and keeping it as healthy as I can. I think the main change is I switch to hot porridge with raisins, chopped dates, honey and you’ve guessed it, CINNAMON.

I do have a recipe coming for another really yummy breakfast coming in December. Yes, December, it’s the only blog post I actually did in advance… I need to get my life together I swear to Jesus, Mary and Joseph…

What is your favourite Autumn activity?

Horror movie marathons, under the blanket with my bestest buddy Tinkletits (Tank) and sometimes my cousin who also loves horror, with hot cinema style popcorn, sweeties and our juice of choice (I’m teetotal, just FYI).

It used to be collecting conkers, I loved collecting conkers. I suppose you could also include autumn photography, I love taking photos of the scenery in autumn because it’s just absolutely gorgeous.

Are you a fan of horror movies?

1000% yes, apart from like I mentioned anywhere animals are harmed. I fell out with Ryan Reynolds (like he cared) for a hot minute because I forgot… oh, wait, SPOILER ALERT, of the incident with the dog in Amityville Horror. I remember the first time I watched the original Amityville, I had to stop the VHS, yes VHS, shut up… and ring my auntie because I was HYSTERICAL. It took me 20 minutes to tell her why I was so upset for her to apologise then tell me to wind my neck in and that it was only a film. Correction dear Auntie (Kinky) Karen (the kinky bit is a private joke) but Amityville as everyone and their granny knows is based on a true story sooooo… you wind your neck in, Kinky K! Moving on.

Do you ever do anything fun or Halloween?

Does pouring cold water on tricker treaters, count? I’m kidding… I haven’t done that in years.  Does pretending your not home, count? I do that often.

I used to go to Halloween parties at my granny and granda on my dad’s side, but… well, you if you are a follower then you’ll know why I don’t do that anymore L.

What was your favourite part of Halloween as a child?

I’ve been watching horror movies since I was about 8 so definitely watching horror films, trick or treating and getting cash money, not sweets, cash money. Then, like I mentioned before going to my grandparents’ house for a party which included best dressed (which I won practically every single year.

That’s what happens when you’re the eldest granddaughter and the coolest.) There was bobbing for apples and just lots and lots of family time. I grew up around males, all my cousins that are older than me, bar one, are male so there was a lot of rough and tumble, wrestling, gaming on the Super Nintendo’s and just general boyish stuff. It’s probably where my sense of humour comes from, being around older males and having a predominantly male family.

Are you a bigger fan of Bonfire night or Halloween?

Little nugget about Northern Ireland, Bonfire Night is on 11th July. So, no I’m not a fan (not for religious reasons) because the 11th July is a pile of shite.

11th July Bonfire - View from Cavehill, Belfast.
11th July Bonfires – View from Cavehill, Belfast.

Halloween is my favourite because it’s just the best night of the year, Spookytime. I love anything horror, paranormal, unexplained (apart from aliens, there are no aliens).

Where is your dream destination to visit in Autumn?

Oh jeez, that’s tough, I’d love to do what Glam’n’Gore is doing and visit the most haunted places in America. If you don’t follow Mykie then you should, the girl is EPIC. I’d love to go to Crumlin Gaol (Northern Ireland) which is probably the most haunted place in Northern Ireland, I haven’t been in years so I’d like to see how much has been changed by the organisers.

Basically, anywhere haunted or anything spooky is the best place to be for Halloween. I can’t think of anything better.

Do you always forget about the clocks going back?

A mood - Me running late for my own funeral
A mood – Me running late for my own funeral

No, are you kidding? With social media? It’s like having an annoying parrot constantly repeating themselves. Although, I’m always the dickhead who doesn’t know if her phone has automatically updated so I just wing it if I’m working and I tend to know by the time I get to my car if my phone clock is right.

When do you usually start preparing for Christmas?

Never. Never, ever, ever. I don’t do Christmas because I’m “damaged”. I thankfully have a partner who also thinks it’s a load of balls. The only thing I prepare for in December is my wedding anniversary as we married on 18th December. Don’t forget my anniversary cards, please.

In terms of presents, me and the hubby are absolutely SHITE at buying people. His dad is easy enough because he loves Star Wars and you can never have enough Star Wars. Our niece and nephews are easy because they are kids so they get toys, but I have no idea what we are going to do without Toys ‘R’ Us, wow…shite… we’re going to be screwed this year for the two eldest kids. My youngest nephew won’t even be one and my godchildren get money so they’ll be grand.

If anyone has any tips on what to buy the mother in law, sister in law, my daddy, and my mummy (step mummy for those confused) then please wing it my way. There is only so much vodka you can buy your parents before it starts getting a tad weird and unthoughtful.

You probably found this super shit and cannot believe I’m not a Christmas person, I can’t relate when it comes to Christmas, even when Big Lizzy  (The Queen) does her speech my eyes are rolling into the back of my head and I’m ready for the hills.

I wish she’d let Big Phil do the speech, it would be the stuff dreams are made of, full of sarcasm, inappropriate jokes and a lot of swear words, Big Phil is like your cool uncle. I lost my cool uncle at 10,  so I just assume that’s what a cool uncle would be like.

I love wee interviews, I feel like you know me so much better now and are thinking “why in the fuck am I following this actual eejit?” Feel free to send me questions, I’ll answer pretty much anything, I think we all know after the vagina post that I’m an open book.

So, this is where I tag the next victims, I mean… bloggers. I am going to tag some of my favouritest people, not that I’ve favourites… Ross tagged five so I’m going to tag five.
